Oil Valley Chapter Of The PA Council Of The Blind
Here's A Little About Us...
We are a group of blind, visually impaired and sighted individuals that meet regularlly to discuss blind concerns, help each other, as well as make our community safer by educating those who don't know what it feels like to lose your sight. We are affiliated with the American Council of the Blind and are a non-profit group that will occasionally raise funds to benefit our cause. The O.V.C. of the P.C.B. advocates and educates and shows the world that the visually impaired are functional at home and in the workplace. Our group spans the oil valley region, with members in the Oil City, Franklin, Cranberry and Titusville area. Our members have raised monies to purchase a c.c.t.v. for both the Oil City and Franklin libraries, an audible pedestrian signal at Washington Crossing in Franklin, and are waiting for one in Oil City and currently offer a scholarship for either a blind student or someone planning on working in the blind field. Plus the fact that we like to have fun too...at a picnic or one of our organizations conventions. If you are visually impaired, know someone who is, or are sighted and would like to help our group, please contact us! Call (814) 677 - 5486 today. We meet on the first monday of each month at either the Oil City Y.W.C.A. or St. John's church in Franklin
Recent News
We are waiting on PennDot to do a study to back up our position that the intersection of Central Ave. and First St. in Oil City needs an audible pedestrian signal. Recently the city of Oil City decided to go after funds for a traffic study which possibly could get us the money for the signal. In a non-related matter, we will soon be accepting aplications for a student scholarship at area schools, and have more details as they become available.
